A Poet Writes [A Poem]

The intransitive writes
is held in lower esteem
than the transitive--
objects become objects
of love, while the action,
unless displayed, consumed,
fades behind the thing done
unto. But how, looking at
paper and its propagation,
could words rise higher than
the moment each notion
breaks upon the beach
at the edge of a human
ocean.
