No Thing

"One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often a good thing to do and always a clever thing to say."

― Will Durant
Nothing is a portmanteau
without a thing on its mind,
an irreversible verse, unscatterable
in any amount of wind. It's telling
that meditators focus all their
energies on its achievement,
that the outcome of fire's work
is mostly it, that it can be said
quietly, without moving a muscle.
Very little does not hold a candle
to nothing; smidgeons are still
pigeons, cooped, ready to send
a message of plenty as far as
each can fly. Nothing ventured,
nothing pained. The grandest
designs are paper, kindling
for a fire's post-burn results.
