To Be

A great writer
is to be known
by the describers
as a deified welder
of pen to heartstring.

Great writing is an
object concerned with
history: it can only be
explored in past,
tense, and reading.

Writing, on the other
hands, cannot see itself,
for its unfolding is the
minuet of incidence
where the point scratches
angles, curves, and signs.
