into clamp, lamplit, unlit,
tracklit, thanked full-on
the clever impulse, given
to asking for another cup,
and refusing a period or
semicolon when a comma
will be the way to keep it
really bright -- hyphens,
too, are callbacks to the
great grandmother of
all of this, this so-
called murmurica,
an unconvention
of spreadness, a 
blue and redness,
unread to send 
no message at all,
not even a 
receipt.
