Greenish, Leanish

Even after the laughter,
the floorboards creak with
weak kneed glory to be
trodden and not sodden,
for the roof is still strong
for all the burning down
of the house.

Formerly, it was the
bones that moaned,
but today it's the river
who shivers and earns
a personified moniker
and a dignified, verdant
hum.
