Pre-Journal Poem

In the morning, I pick up a plastic pencil,
Take out two sheets of computer paper,
And write.

Three pages later,
Dreams are catalogued,
Unreasonable demands are parried,
And I'm ready to write.

Today, we are gathered together
To read and write
Before the day is lit.

There's berry note coffee
Lucid lumen source
And two hands
Whose nails need a trim
Poking letters
To form what counts for thought.
