Dubious Season

Feral tracks race
Across the snowless
Plain, fissuring the
Unbroken meadow
With the evidence
That we are wild
Animals, we celebrate
The moon by
Telling off the
Owls and eating
Our fellow creatures

Are we wolves?
Or even coyotes?
None so conspicuous
Our eyes are watching
You as you drive past

But please do not
Lock away
Your trash
