The Seat

we humans do not worship gods
we worship right angles
the amount of attention that goes to prayer
is not a pale sheet to compare
to the reams of chairs
headboards
ninety degree days
street corner cautions
fifteen minutes of fame
six days a week
with one day
to rest
and watch the pews
with a book open
half flat
as you may remember
the body of
price
the blood of
the strolling
fear-it
sans sheriffs
thumb and pointer finger
into the shape
that cups the butts
