Memories of Friendship

getting through the times
it’s a technical task
fruit needing a few more weeks
or a little more attention
when it’s dark on the brightest day
an ocean a few blocks away
pulling through the gears on the clock
one might have thought
it might have been automatic
spurious thoughts drive curiosity
to the ground
a foundation built of the
craftiness of witlessness
to set aside the need to win
is the key to a building
that was unlocked the
whole of time
beginnings and endings
are myths written
by cover pages
who want a job to do
if a library could be conjoined
into a single book
with no end or beginning
the world would see
the way it is written
and it might be possible
to see into the past
