but my favorite thing about house plants
is that they grow in surprising and new ways
and they are alive!
the fungus fulfills these qualities
(though I am not sure whether scientists call it "living" -
another thing to not google)
so I'll watch and hope
that the web's med doc
wouldn't admonish me for keeping this yellow stuff
breathing the same air as me
it's alive! and I'd like to continue to be
but I'll let this unfold as a surprise
