Poetry’s Usefulness

Right, but what is it for?
How can it add some value?
Does it make one more concise?
Clearly not; these verses are strewn with extra words.
Perhaps an expanded vocabulary for future oratory.
A charisma factory, lined up for power.
Unlikely; spoken rarely.
A stimulus? A search? A discovery?
A self-conscious examination, from the inside of the inside?
A plumber's solitary colonoscopy, as they say (and chimney sweep).
Sparks to start a fire, to contain it, to re-plant the trees on more fertile soil?
Controlled burns have always confused me. Ecologists insist they are useful too.
There's utility here; are we convinced?
Ask me in ten years;
by then I'll evince.
