Mode

It's the average
Whose definition I can never remember
So I think instead
Of the specific
A set of one
The mode of one must be one
No matter what kind of average it is
Line it up and it still stands alone
On its own
As a castle
Of only one column
And so by what mode
Ought I live?
In a mode that is not solitary I think
But does that mean there will be more than one column?
And must I find a way to take the average?
Must I find a way to understand the agglomerated notions of all the columns?
To build a roof
And perhaps walls?
And of course a portico
Whatever that is
For I think my mode will be that of a portico
Standing on its own
Surrounded by walls
But in its own mode
A mode that does not average easily
For is to average
To bring down the walls?
Or is it to fully support
A hefty ceiling?
