When the quiet sets in
Do you hear noise?
I feel the turbulence
Of a perfectly calm day
And I steer close to the edge
On a Sunday drive
Just to feel
That terror of being alive
But when the birds sing soft
And the sun comes up
Gentle skies drift
Rivers flow smooth
I find myself in times of ease
Looking for the rub
Yet when the breeze of life blows lightly
I might see the birds
And wave hello
To stop
And sip only one cup
Of coffee carefully brewed
And amble on throughout the day
Flower scents
Green shoots
Heart beats
Gathering love
Embracing grace
Worried not for futures
Or pasts
