When one writes a poem
And by one
I of course mean I
Listening to a song
Ought I add a reference
To the song
To the footnotes
Or even the title?
Because when I look at this poem
From both sides now
From give and take
And something about love's illusions
I wonder
Even though I'm listening to a cover
Of the original
And not taking down every word
Perhaps I should write
A letter to Kathleen
Asking for her permission
But did Joni Mitchell
Ask Judy Collins
I have no idea
And am not going to search any further
So if the use of all these names
Gets me into hot water
Consider this poem
