Some terrible things
Predictable though they are
Cannot be borne
By one alone

These semi benevolent associations
Of those with money and those with fear
It’s like a bet at the slots
Or one in a company’s stocks
One wagers their risk will pass
Another hopes that it won’t
Though rather neither prefer
That bad things should occur
Really all just hope
That the sharing be wide enough
Such that those unafflicted
Might lend their generosity
Knowing their day may come
And so ye unlucky claimants
Be glad you read your contract docs
For now you can be sure
Your misfortune can be stopped
To the degree money can stanch

Or how
We can say how often
And how badly how often

What you need from your transfer
Is trust in its solvency

Nor deal with fear’s future too much
For funeral planning
Or fire extinguisher buying
Neither one loves too well
So prevent if we can
