How can I capture
The free electrons many
Can I heat water
And turn a wheel
Or shall I just pedal
Again and again
Up hills and down
To bicycle fen
Sometimes I write
Line after line
To capture the forces
That I struggle to mine
Deeper yet I run
Footfalls disturb the peace
Dominate myself
An impossible task
So harness I shall
Off comes the mask
Leader or follow
Parallel or perp
Belonging can remain
With creativity's slurp
Bear not a grudge
As I stumble along
It knows not what it does
My brain's unsung song
Paint you I won't
With brushstrokes unkind
Human you are
Impassive the bind
Of lifting all life
Upon one's back
I let go of the burden
Beneath verse's stack
